Today, Jandy Monroe had the pleasure of attending a press preview for the fw13 collection of Ella McHugh handbags. The turn-of-the century Nomad Hotel, where the preview was held, was the perfect complement to the collection, which took inspiration from styles seen in the 1930’s, 40’s, and 50’s. The beauty of this collection lies in the details of each piece. One of my favorite things about the collection is Ella’s use of exotic skins. With python dyed in metallic shades of copper, gold, and black, the collection is given a modern twist on its vintage shapes. Ella also makes use of alligator skin in a rubberized finish, which any lady shopping for true luxury will fawn over. If the divine array of fabrics were not enough, each bag also has a precious stone somehow incorporated in its design, whether it is an onyx clasp to a clutch or a smokey quartz pendant on a shoulder bag. While this is only the second season of the namesake brand, by the lovely lawyer-turned-designer, I only foresee further success and growth for Ella McHugh.
